First project jumper/dress for Elleree.
I debated on whether to do the flowers on the front, but it seemed plain without them.
In the end I had to design them myself, that is why they look so weird, I mean...good. It turned out okay, not perfect, but okay.
My next project was a skirt for me. It was a pattern I have had for awhile now, and never found the right matieral for it. Some of you are saying, yeah......you still haven't.
Truth be told it really does look better in real life. I am not very good at taking pictures. There really is that color of green in the material :) I was proud of myself, because I sewed my first zipper. It looks really bad, but it is done, and now I can move on, and learn from it. I want to get to the point where you can't even tell that I made it. It will get there. Mean while it is costing a lot of money, turns out sewing is not cheap, especially when you make lots of mistakes. HeHeHeHe.

I am with ya, making a purse and a skirt for me. I just made curtains and scarfs. Just call me project runway.
You go girl! Sewing CAN be very empowering. In high school I pretty much sewed every thing I had. The lil outfits you made are fantastic! Love the flower power and in case you hadn't figured it out - I,m a HUGE fan of swirls! It's the stuff my doodles are made of.
I love the tongue in the top of the skirt picture. Keep up the great work!
They both turned out great! Good for you...the only way to learn how to sew is...to sew :) Zippers can be hard so you should feel super proud about that one! Sewing can be addictive...there are so many projects out there!!! Have fun.
Way to go Desi! I'm glad you find it therapeutic. Not me--mine was mostly alot of mistakes. I am happy with just being able to hem and mend now. I suppose if I could have come up with such cute clothing like you did I might feel different. Glad you like it though.
Good for you. They are both super cute. I love to sew also, especially for my girls. Those zippers will just keep gettiing better.
SAWEET!
That jumper for Miss Elleree is adorable! The big flowers are what make it.
Like Crazy, Aleta and I sewed the majority of our cloths in highschool.
Way back then in the stone age it was actually far cheaper than buying. I was the experimental (e.g. crappy seamstress) and Aleta was the "follow the pattern" (e.g. good) seamstress.
It can be a ton of fun. AmyJo is right... this zippers will only get better.
I love the flowers on the jumper. Super cute! When I have a girl you have to make me one. Just let me know when you get the sewing itch again and you can do my curtains for the basement!
