Playing Hooky

Two weekends ago was our Stake Conference.  Normally Jason and I drag our kids and ourselves for that matter, to the two hours of pure awsomeness.  This time we went to the adult session the night before and felt like we were good to go.  So instead of conference we took the kids on an "adventure".
Jason packed a lunch and we went for a drive through the foothills around here.
Our car got a little dusty it needs to say "wash me".
The ultimate destination was Balance Rock.  It was a bit of a up hill climb, but not bad.
This time I left Jason with the two youngest.  Hey at least it isn't snowing and freezing like it has been when he has left them to me.
The boys were brave and climbed all the way to the top.
Mean while Jason is still climbing.  I tell you it is not easy with these two.  I felt good about it though, he needs a little taste of what I normally do on our "adventures".
Finally they all made it and I took their cute picture.
The "adventure"  took all day and it was nice to spend time as a family, even if we were playing hooky.

Kristy's Big Day

My sister-in law Kristy got married this last weekend.  We are so happy for her and so excited that she is happy!
They held the wedding in the chapel of the LDS church.  I have never been to a wedding in the chapel. There are certain things that you can't do like you can in a regular ceremony.  It was a very nice ceremony though.
Matt fits in really well with our family and he makes Kristy very happy.  He was sticking his butt out at just for this picture.....perfect.
Here is grandma and the kids all dressed up for the occasion.
The bride with all her bridesmaids.  Kristy and Kim her maid of honor (the one with the dark hair) are twin sisters.
Beckett had his full time babysitter with him.  My niece Ali is always up for a challenge and I always put her in charge of the monster.
Here are all the grand-kids except one.  Thank goodness Michelle brought her Ipad to keep them entertained.
Here is the missing one, she had to stop off for a snack.
There was a luncheon after the wedding and this was the only picture I took of that because my nephew Nate cracks me up.
The bride and groom were busy taking pictures most of the afternoon so the rest of us got busy setting up for the reception.
I know you have been waiting for it, so here it is.  My first (hopefully only) wedding cake.  It looks nothing like the picture that she gave me of how she wanted it.  I pretty much suck.
Bless my awesome sister in-law Michelle and her mad flower arranging skills.  Without which the cake would look absolutely horrible.  So many things went wrong with this cake it is amazing it looked even this good/bad.
These are the four sheet cakes that I made too.
I bribed the kids with frosting so they would stay away from the cake.
Here is the monster man again.
This is the rest of Jason's family, his two brothers, aunt, sister and another sister in-law.  Jason's grandma even came, and she hasn't been to Idaho in 13 years!
They had a chocolate fountain and it was a big success.  Once again Nate cracks me up!
Cutting of the awesome cake (I don't want any comments about how it's leaning okay).
I was proud of Kristy she smashed it in there good.

The reception was a ton of fun, with dancing and eating we really enjoyed ourselves.  I love weddings!

Amazing

Amazing, I finally got done with all the posts that I needed to catch up on.  On last post and I am done, for a little while anyway.  Pardon the really bad, grainy pictures I forgot my camera and had to use my phone.  The zoom is not that impressive to say the least.
Okay so I am super proud of both of my boys.  They both tried really hard, and on labor day they both finally got up.
Truman got up on two behind the boat with not help.
Dillon got up on one behind the boat with no help.  Dillon's was very motivated, we said we would get him a wake board if he got up on one.  I think he also wanted to prove that he could get up sooner than I did as a kid.  I didn't get up until I was 10 on one, and he is 9.  So he is officially better than I am.
They decided to double together.  It is kind of fun seeing my kids do all the things I enjoyed doing as a kid.  I can't believe I am old enough to have kids that can ski!  I wish we had friends and family that did it too, like I had as a kid.
I am glad Jason loves it too.  It is something that we get to do as a family and it is really rewarding.  I am thankful that my mom and dad did it with us.  I know (now that that I have my own kids) that it isn't always fun, and is lots of work for parents.  I am grateful that my parents were will to do that with us!  Maybe someday my kids will look back and think the same thing.

Price Mic Vaden

This last weekend my brother Heath blessed the newest addition to his family, Mr. Price Mic Vaden.
He is a sweet little thing.
He is also a very good little baby.
My mom and I took turns holding him and he didn't cry once the whole time.
 He just sat and cooed.
I say he is the missing link between my brothers other two sons.  You can see both of them in him.
This is one of them Mr. Man Peyton.  I never did get any pictures of Pierce, he and Truman took off together and were never seen again.
 They had a lunch afterwards.
Ivan was there with his wife, so my whole family was able to make it except for Alli.  Unfortunately that is how it is going to be from now on.  At least she misses all the drama too.

My mom made this amazing quilt for Price.  It is so stinking cute I couldn't stand it.
These pictures don't do it justice.
I am glad we got to see family and bless Price.

Camping at Stone

We took one last camping trip this year.
My aunt and uncle invited us to go to Stone Reservoir with them.
We didn't have the best weather, one night we even had to sleep in Kit and Kent's camper because it rained so bad it flooded our tent.
It was nice to sit and BS with my aunt and uncle.  They take such good care of us. The kids played had a good time.  We also got to see my cousin Doug, who didn't get to go to Redfish this year.
We were even able to get the boat in even though the water level was so low.
I liked the campsites, they were all grassy and nice.  I guess we used to go here when I was a kid, but I don't remember it at all.
This is how Beckett has decided he likes to ride his bike.  I enjoyed myself and it was very relaxing, which was something I really needed.  Thanks Kit and Kent.

Fair 2012

Ah yes the fair.  Once a year it comes around and every year I say I am not going and every year I do.
This year my mom came to help me, because Jason couldn't come.
We went on the first day the fair was open and they didn't have any of the rides set up yet.
So we went around to every booth and barn they had to offer.
The kids as always loved the petting zoo.
These are the little pot belly pigs and their babies.  Aren't the babies adorable, I always tell Jason that I want one for a pet.
They had this tiny zip line from these guys for free and Truman loved it.
Dillon didn't do it because he wanted to watch the hypnotist.
 They flipped him.
Then sent him on his way.  He had a lot of fun.
Elleree's favorite ride as always is the carousel.
My mom was awesome for coming and she rode all the rides with the kids too.  I have a great mom.
