A few years back Jason and Dillon tried to do a science project, it didn't turn out too well. There was some procrastination, and lack of interest. This year in Dillon's class it was mandatory to do a science project, and I was bound and determined that history was not going to repeat it's self.
First I let Dillon pick his own project. Don't get me wrong I steered him to sites on line that had ideas, but it was all him and what he was interested in.
He saw a video about mentos and coke and that sparked his interest.
He wanted to know if it would work on all soda, or just coke. Soooo a couple bucks later, after buying three(because it's not a
proper experiment without three) of every kind of soda we could find and
tons of mentos, we had ourselves an experiment.
We filmed it, took pictures and got proper measurements. Turns out it actually works the best with root beer.
Then we put together his project. It was not easy but we did it and he got first prize for his class!
He learned a bit along the way about various things like nucleus sites(or something like that)...because he had to give an oral presentation.
This kid is great and I am so proud of him. I am constantly asking myself where he came from. Not from me that is for sure.

Congratulations Dillon!
Looks like you had some fun with that experiment. Who got to clean up the sticky goo?
I'm pretty certain that Dillon is cross between you and Jason, and a whole lot of just Dillon. That makes a nice combo.
Now what to do with the mentos and soda knowledge?
Go Dillon! And girl, he came from you, you give yourself far too little credit in this world. You are wonderful and you teach him great things!
What boy wouldn't love an experiment that involves coke & mentos! Nice science board!
Oh I have seen videos of the coke and mentos deal! I bet he was in heaven :0) Looks like my kind of science- not all that memorization crap...I mean stuff.
He is a fun boy. Always has been, always will be.
(and yes, you DO give yourself too little credit for all the great things you do...but you're not alone if that makes you feel any better :0).
